Russell Baatjies

Russell is a seasoned professional and astute business leader with a distinguished career both in engineering and operations at Transnet. His journey from the shop floor to executive leadership reflects his hands-on experience at all organisational levels.

His tenure as our Chief Executive started on 1 March 2024.

He is a visionary at the fore front of the business transformation and performance turnaround currently underway in our company. Russell holds a BSc (Hons) in Rail Operations, B-Tech in Business Administration, National Diploma in Engineering.
