The Faculty of Rail (FoR) is a key faculty within Transnet Academy, dedicated to developing rail-specific skills that support Transnet Freight Rail Operations Company (TFROC), and Transnet Rail Infrastructure Manager (TRIM) mandate and operating model. FoR plays a pivotal role in the successful execution of their strategic initiatives, including over border railway operators and the local rail industry. With a strong national presence, FoR operates across 8 campuses and 3 satellite sites in South Africa, training approximately 23,616 employees annually

The faculty delivers specialised accredited training in rail operations, rail specific technical skills, rail safety and business processes, ensuring a skilled workforce capable of meeting the demands of Transnet’s evolving rail environment. FoR has world class established training infrastructure which includes Train Driving simulators, Train Control simulator, Rubber wheel (motor vehicle and truck) simulators and Rail Infrastructure Practicum which enhances the practical skills transfer. FoR’s expertise is critical in supporting the business by equipping employees with industry-relevant competencies.
