The LEC portfolio has the mandate to assure standard setting, guide governance practices, assure quality and compliance, provide curriculum and assessment services, and report on skills planning to governance structures through which technical, operational, safety and business process core skills and requirements are enabled for the Transnet Academy

Governance, Compliance and Quality Assurance Services: Ensures the Transnet Academy complies with ISO 3000-1, ISO 45001:2018, ISO 9001:2015; ISO14001:2015 Standards with its; statutory and regulatory standards set by SANS, SAMSA, RSR and NAMB, SETA’s and Quality Assurance Bodies such as QCTO through accreditation

Curriculum Design & Development: Provides the Faculties with innovative curriculum for cutting-edge blended learning by utilising digital learning platforms and research, design, develop learning material aligned to local and international quality standards

Assessment Centre: Provides the Faculties with assessment and moderation services accredited by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO), which underscores our commitment to excellence and adherence to national standards. Moderations conducted assure the quality and authenticity of the entire end-to-end ETDP process and practices

Skills Planning & Reporting: Enables the TA to analyse trends, provide visualisations and give insight on skills development initiatives to enhance informed decision-making, provides reporting to all internal and external stakeholders and shareholders on skills progression within Transnet and submits the Transnet WSP/ATR to qualify for mandatory and discretionary grants of the skills levies paid to SARS and tax concessions and ensure compliance to the BBBEE Skills Pillar as required by the BBBEE Code
