Vast experience and expertise accumulated over many years within the Maritime industry, enables the FoPT&M to facilitate knowledge transfer in port related training and business solutions specific to customers’ needs

The Faculty is the sole institution that is accredited by the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) to provide marine pilotage training in South Africa

In the past 3-5-years over 50 Engineers in Training as well as Technicians in Training have successfully completed the Development Program, with some now appointed as Senior Engineers

Management of the TNPA Cadet training programme as part of youth development; placement onboard international vessels

Port terminal operator licencing and relicencing on various operator lifting equipment across South African ports

Design and implementation of digitalised licence/certification tracking systems

Providing maritime training to Ports authorities within the SADEC region and within Africa (Angola, Namport, Mozambique as well as Kenya)

In the past 3-5-years over 40 Marine Personnel qualified as Marine Engineers, Tugboat Masters, small boat skippers, Marine Pilots & General-Purpose Ratings

Accreditation


Faculty of Port Terminals and Marine is an accredited training institution with the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA), Transport Education and Training Authority and the leading provider of high-end training in the Port and Maritime sector. Faculty of Port Terminals and Marine is accredited to conduct competency assessments and to issue Certificates of Competence to delegates. FoPT&M assesses and evaluates course delegates according to the National Qualification Framework (NQF) and the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) unit standards. Our team of facilitators are all accredited to perform formative and summative assessments and to moderate those assessments

All the requirements pertaining to the training of seafarers in South Africa are covered in the Merchant Shipping (Safe Manning, Training and Certification) Regulations, 2021 and Amendments. It is strongly recommended that interested persons obtain copies of these Regulations
