Extended Deadline for Network Access Applications to 27 February 2025
In response to requests from potential participants, Transnet Rail Infrastructure Manager (TRIM), in consultation with key stakeholders, has approved an extension of the closing date for Network Access Applications from 07 February to 27 February 2025. The extension will provide an opportunity for applicants to review and consider the updated Annexure 29B – Network Capacity Statement and the Addendum to Section 4-10 of the Network Statement. TRIM Releases Updated Annexure 29B

TRIM Issues Addendum to Section 4-10 of the Network Statement
TRIM has introduced an Addendum to Section 4-10, reinforcing economic transformation and equitable access in rail operations. The update aligns with B-BBEE legislation, promoting new entrant participation and freight consolidation mechanisms.

Please be advised that TRIM has amended its banking account details in Annexure 29a Network Access Application Form. The updated Annexure 29a is now available for download on our website. Train Operating Companies (TOCs) are requested to use the updated banking details for all payments to avoid processing delays. IRERC has extended the date for submission of written responses to the draft Network statement as published in the Government Gazette No. 50312 to the 20 May 2024 before 11h00am Interested parties who wish to submit written comments should address them to Irercsec@dot.gov.za or visit the Department of Transport website, https://www.transport.gov.za under the IRERC link.

Interested parties are advised to take note that the published Rail Access Tariff Methodology document, submitted to IRERC in November 2023, indicates that "IM will begin offering open access from 1 April 2024", however, the date for opening of applications is subject to the conclusion of the public consultation process facilitated by IRERC and finalization of tariffs.
