General Manager: Commercial and Planning

Michelle Van Buren Schele

The past 25 years have seen Michelle in corporate finance across fast moving consumer goods company Unilever South Africa and financial services company Nedcor, before joining Transnet where she’s assumed several management roles. These include Budget and Performance Manager, SAP Projects and Integration Manager, Regulation Strategy Planner, Divisional Financial Planner, Senior Manager Corporate Finance, Acting GM Corporate Services and recently Acting Chief Financial Officer.

Michelle’s strength in taking a longer-term view of business growth and sustainability, as well motivate, influence and drive strategic objectives by ensuring the support of all relevant stakeholders will serve her well in her new role. She holds a Bachelor of Social Science Degree, a Bachelor of Commerce Degree and a Postgraduate Degree in Economics from the University of KwaZulu Natal. Michelle also has a Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of London.
