Transnet Port Terminals operates multipurpose terminals at the Durban Multipurpose Terminal, Maydon Wharf Multipurpose Terminal, Richards Bay Multipurpose Terminal, Port Elizabeth Multipurpose Terminal, East London Multipurpose Terminal, Cape Town Multipurpose Terminal and the Saldanha Multipurpose Terminal.

Parcels of steel, granite, timber, abnormal and project cargo and other commodities are handled through these break-bulk operations in multi-purpose terminals. In some instances, traditional bulk cargo is handled at break-bulk facilities making use of a skip operation.
