Integrated Supply Chain Solutions

At Transnet Pipelines, we deliver comprehensive pipeline network supply chain solutions that prioritise safety, ensure optimal service reliability, and consistently exceed customer expectations through the expertise of our highly-skilled workforce.

Strategic Initiatives

To enhance our capabilities, we are focused on securing a direct import terminal at the Port of Durban and obtaining a terminal operating license. This aligns with our strategic objectives under the Transnet Liquid Fuels Master Plan, aimed at:

Broad-Based Economic Empowerment

Encouraging new market participants in line with the Liquid Fuels Charter, promoting sector transformation.

Clean Fuels II Programme

Meeting the Department of Energy's requirements for increased import terminal capacity due to evolving fuel specifications.

Performance Highlights

Revenue: Increased by 8.9% to R5.7 billion.

EBITDA: Decreased by 4.7% to R3.8 billion.

Petroleum Volumes: Slight decrease of 0.3% to 17.8 billion litres.

Safety: Recorded a DIFR of 0.70 against a target of 0.60.

Infrastructure and Operations

New Multi-Product Pipeline (NMPP): The 24-inch trunk line, fully operational with a capacity of 148 Ml per week, transports two diesel grades (D10 and D50) and two unleaded petrol grades (93 and 95) as well as jet fuel.

Jameson Park Facility (TM2): Operational since December 2017, this inland accumulation facility in Gauteng has a capacity of 180 Ml, ensuring supply security to the inland economic hub and surrounding areas.

Durban to Johannesburg Pipeline (DJP): Currently being decommissioned, with completion expected in 2021. Plans are underway to repurpose the Durban to Pietermaritzburg segment to supply gas to industrial areas, pending demand validation.

Seamless Service Integration

Our integrated rail and pipeline services to OR Tambo International Airport guarantee jet fuel supply security. We are also working on optimising pipeline solutions for Cape Town International Airport.

Expanding Our Reach

Transnet Pipelines’ international strategy, led by Transnet International Holdings (TIH), aims to extend our operations beyond South Africa.

We are positioning Transnet Pipelines as the preferred liquid and gas terminal and pipeline operator across Africa, with plans to diversify into the liquefied natural gas (LNG) market domestically.
